Amid all of the corruption, an inexperienced security force, and an intoxicating plant that keeps most men in Yemen high for up to six hours a day, keeps the US from winning the battle agains al-Qaeda in Yemen. The Yemeni branch is who is suspected of a plot to mail bombs to the United States.
The plot to send these packages to synagogues, shows creativity, and just how far the terrorists will go and they try to penetrate all security measures of western countries. They will take every opportunity possible, and even use the relaxed security on cargo planes. In the past, terrorists have targeted passenger planes, and an example was the failed Christmas Day bombing attempt, on a plane bound for Detroit.
More conniving among our politicians, as it has been exposed that should Charlie Crist, who once was a Republican, then switched to Independent, said he would vote with the Democrats, according to an aide from former President Bill Clinton. It appears that Crist told Clinton he would caucus with Democrats if he won.
The unnamed aide, after speaking after Democratic Rep. Kendrick Meek insisted Friday that Clinton never asked him to drop out of the three-way race, said that Crist called Clinton aide Doug Band and Band intervened between Crist and Meek about Meek’s possible departure from the three-way contest.
Yemeni police today arrested a woman in suspicion of mailing a pair of bombs powerful enough to take down airplanes, as more details emerged about a terrorist plot aimed at the U.S. that exploited security gaps in the worldwide shipping system. The woman was arrested in the al-Rawdah district near the airport in San’a. Yemen’s capital investigators were hunting in Yemen for more suspects tied to al-Qaida and several U.S. officials identified the terrorist group’s top explosives expert in Yemen as the most likely bombmaker.
With many Americans against President Obama’s healthcare law, next Tuesday’s elections could have a big impact on the reforms. If it goes as polls say, and Republicans make huge gains in Congress, it could mean years of hold-ups on implementing the legislation. But Democrats remain in power, they just might reward everyone with even more reforms.
Robert Blendon and John Benson of the Harvard School of Public Health reviewed 17 recent major polls, and said they show healthcare is an important but secondary voting issue in this election. It’s said that between 41 and 49% said health care or health care reform would be extremely important, compared with 55 to 62 percent who consider the economy extremely important.
At 3:28am this morning, British police received a report of a suspicious package within a distribution centre at East Midlands airport. Due to the location of the package, the area was cordoned off, and also included the closure of a small internal link road at the airport and a freight distribution building. The area was evacuated as a precautionary measure in the interest of public safety. The package was said to contain an ink toner cartridge converted to a bomb.
Security alerts were then issued in the US, UK, and the Middle East. The White House later confirmed that Saudi Arabia had provided information that helped identify the threat. UK Home Secretary Theresa May later said that the device found in Britain “did contain explosive material”. BBC
