Veterans Groups Demand Repair of ‘Broken’ Disability System
Many military veterans groups have asked Obama to repair the failed bureaucracy that requires former service members to wait months for disability benefits. Paul Rieckhoff, founder and executive director of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, says that the system is broken, and that Obama hasn’t fixed the problem.
House Republican leaders plan summer tax cut vote
Later this summer the House plans to vote on continuing wide-ranging tax cuts first enacted under President George W. Bush, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor said Friday as the GOP sharpened its plans for confronting Democrats on one of the election’s top issues.
Judge: Anti-gay Marriage Law Is Unconstitutional
In California, a second federal judge has struck down a law denying benefits to partners in a gay marriage. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, U.S. District Judge Claudia Wilken also struck down on Thursday another law limiting tax benefits for state employees with domestic partners.
Obama blames Republicans for past 4 years and bad economy
President Barack Obama, while speaking to a room of donors in Denver once again placed the blame for the bad economy on the backs of Republicans. He even went so far as to say that federal spending has increased less than 2 percent since 2009. And making himself look good in the eyes of the voters is the only chance he has at re-election, as he has no record to run on. So his team has come up with the strategy once again, to put all the blame on former President George W Bush, and those terrible Republicans.
Democrats May Turn Walker Into National GOP Hero
It looks like the plan by Democrats and labor unions to recall Republican Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker may be backfiring. Of the five major polls conducted this month shows Walker leading his Democratic opponent, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, by at least four percentage points in the June 5 recall race. Also Walker scored a 12-point lead in the latest survey, conducted by We Ask America this week.
